Weekend workshop
« on: April 24, 2016, 03:56:27 PM »
This past weekend's workshop was held in Manchester by the Sea, MA. We're working on cutting joints for a 14' long by 16' wide screen porch frame:

We've been working on the king post or ridge beam support post, the ridge beam and the brace going between them.

We did a test fit up after we completed some mortises:

We tested some tenons with a new tool (this is not an advertisement for the tool).

Above is the tenon checker on the king post bottom tenon.

Below it is on a brace tenon:

We may hold one more workshop at this customer's site to teach how to layout posts with braces flush to the inside, instead of outside.
He wanted them in so he could put the screen panels on the outside and not have to deal with cutting triangle shaped screens.
