They have popped up everywhere the last few days.

They were not there this past Saturday.

Those are nice. Do they usually bloom in late Summer or has unusual weather caused a late bloom?

Radar67

My Grand Father used to say when the spider lillies bloomed it was 6-8 weeks til frost. It is pretty close to accurate. I may have to dig some up for my place.  ;)

They are showing up around here too.  Just noticed them in the last couple of days.  That is an interesting plant, to lay dormant so long, then exhibit that phenomenal growth rate. :)

There are many at the Cabin, so you will have an opportunity Saturday.  Matter of fact, you can dig while everyone else is eating.   food1 digin1 digin_2

We have some white ones pop up at work.   After the first 7 years dad ran the landfill they never were there.    THen I took over while he was sick and burnt a brush pile.       THen they poped up there.        THey bloom earliers than the pink ones.

I can mail a few bulbils to any one on here but it will take about 2 seasons to bloom

Yes TR, they are also called Surprise Lillies here too.

They sprout leaves to gather nutrients at a different time of the year.  If you cut those leaves off, you will get no flowers.

The next time you say "digging and eating", I'll understand.

But personally, I really think that the Banana Pudding was better.

We call these types of Lillie's "Naked Ladies", due to the lack of leaves when they flower.....  Not my definition - this one come from the South.
