I stopped in at a couple of township offices today to
find out what they do with the trees they've been removing from the storms that have hit around here. One said they wait until the pile gets big enough and then they pay to have them hauled away. I gave them my card and told them that I either could haul them away for free or I could mill them into something they might have a use for. They seemed very interested. One yard I went to they had a number of large
(30 - 36") white oaks and hard maples along with some smaller cherry and hickory. Both of these towns are very old and heavily wooded. There was a story on the news that they estimated about 8,000 trees were down in the city of Chicago alone! Hopefully I will have a lot of milling to do soon 8). Wade
If it's worth cutting down a tree for, it's worth doing right
