@Old Greenhorn

This year, we are going Behind the Forum to look for clues to the key that will get you registered for this year's prize drawing. Guests are welcome and encouraged to play along, but to actually get registered for the drawing, you will need to be a registered Forestry Forum member to access the registration. ONCE YOU KNOW WHERE TO FIND IT! ;D ;D

Your Challenge: To take 18 clues, and match them to the correct 18 video titles out of a Playlist of 19 videos.

You will then take those titles to extract a keyphase, that you will use to complete a URL, that will take you to the registration form.

HERE IS YOUR PLAY LIST IN NO CERTAIN ORDER!!
Forestry Forum Christmas Pick List - YouTube

Step one. Create the 18 letter code phrase you will need to get to the contest entry form. Below are your 18 clues in order. You must find the video title from the selections in the Behind the Forestry Forum youtube Christmas play list by using the clues below. Once you see the clue in a video, it will be apparent. Once you find the correct video title from the clue, collect the letter from the designated word in that title as directed. Put all your letters in order as listed below to create that 18 letter code phrase.

Preliminary check if your code phrase is correct. a=1, b=2, add up your 18 letters to check to see if you are at 206

You cannot be correct if your numbers do not add up to 206, however, you could still be wrong. Odds are, you are right. No sense even proceeding until your code phrase letters add up to 206. Keep trying!

Okay, once you have the correct code phrase, you can register for the drawing. Complete the URL by adding your code phrase after "action=" and copy and paste into web browser. If it is correct, you will know it. DO NOT USE ANY CAPS!!!

Well, this certainly looks to be one for the long haul folks. I am 2 hours into it and I have just 2 letters, which I hope are correct. Simple math tells me this is gonna take about 24 hours or more.
We shouldn't let you spend so much time on the UP to dwell on this stuff. Gonna have to have a talk with Wildflower about this.

If I start to hear to many mournful sighs. Ill rule out the extra video. Or, I'd tell you how I'd approach it. Um no. :) there are some ways to narrow your choices by using the entire clue. But really, no getting around it. Yer goona be sick of me before yer done. Woohahah!

Jeff, not sure it is a mistake or a misdirection - I think Video 12 should read the 4th word, not the 5th...

The biggest clue I will give - PAY ATTENTION.  They are quick, some visual, some audio.

Thank you to all the sponsors. ;)

yes, indeed, you can't do this while doing something else, you have to pay attention, all the time or you will miss 'it'. There is no way to get through this one fast, no matter how fast your brain works as far as I can see.
And especially yes, thank you to all the sponsors!

Well, if John found the same thing I did, I believe he is correct. No way can I get even close to getting this done anytime soon though. No idea how he did that, he must have a pornographic memory.

Say when

Jeff

He's a channel subscriber and had previously watched all the videos.  There is an advantage to watching behind the forum channel regular. It makes you know stuff. Ask @stanwelch about that and the pigroast. :)

off the mark a bit, but do you have to have a you tube account to subscribe and like.  is that how you get credit?  I tried and did not complete making an account.  is that how we can post video via you tube as well?  sorry to go off course, but i assume there are others who do not know as well.

My goal this year was not to bamboozle, but to hopefully offer something you can take away from the contest even if you dont win.

The videos are me. They are us. Not the wizard behind a forestry forum curtain that flashes light when something goes awry, but the guy that just wants to find a way to be happy for what ever years hemay have left. If you dont watch any of the videos associated with the contest, just watch this one. I made it yesterday morning. Not for anyone but me, because I've been missing Pete so much this summer. Every time I do something at the cabin, every thing I do, I think of him and hope je approves, or at least looks down, shakes his head and grins. :)

well, I know, but i would like to support the cause, and it would save me time if someone led me down the road.  Otherwise just like now, I have not taken the time to figure it out.  thanks.  I enjoyed the nature video for Pete.  Thanks for everything Jeff.

Okay, let me get everyone started with a suggestion. Not sure if the first video in your pick list is sorted the same, but lets assume  its the same is mine. First, just read all the clues, so you at least have seen what is there. Now, go watch the first video. Lets say it is the "Hardwood Island trail" video. Just watch it all the way through. Then, go back to the list of clues. I'll guarantee, you look at them, you will match it to the video instantly. One down.
