 8) Thanks Scott, its been a lot of fun. I think I just got my first customer, a lady with 10 achers has a poll barn built that she wants to put stalls under. Hope to get that one. The barn is about 60 x 100' Any ideas on what or how I should charge (BF vrs Hourly I think about $35 an hour is fair)?? I want to be EZ on her, she is a very nice Lady, but I don't wanna do it for free either. ::) I stopped at a feed & tack store on my way home and I think I may have hit a GOLD mine 8) Thats where I met her and there were several others there that wanted my card. I sure hope I like this as good as I think I do. Don't wanna  smiley_hanged myself  8) .

Nice job.

Your rate per hour should depend on what kind of mill and how much you can cut per hour. For me with all hydraulics and a diesel, $50 per hour is not enough with fuel prices at these levels.

If you are talking to horse owners, and they are like the ones we have around here, Get the money up front.   :)

WB - there's been a lot of discussion re bd ft pricing versus hourly.  Search the archives if you have a moment.

Locally (around Raleigh), pine is going for .60 - .80 bd foot, and oak is 1.00 - 1.30 bd foot (both green), which includes the cost of the wood.

Hope this helps. Keep in mind that you can always lower your price, but it's hard to raise it.

I'm in agreement with Gary-C on the get the money first and lots of it.  It may be your last.  I live about 45 miles of Louisiana Downs Racetrack in Shreveport.  I was driving around the area looking at the nice places and decided that it'd be a nice market for my plasma cut machine.  Having talked to the locals most told me that if I did anything get the money first if I wanted any.
