The running light is fine, the signal/brake circuit is in trouble from what I gather.
You have 12volts at the light socket on the signal/brake circuit so it can't be a bad connection.
Disconnect the trailer harness, pull the bulb at the trailer and look for a short between the 12volt source in the socket and the socket itself.
The voltage might be bleeding off through a high resistance ground without blowing a fuse.

I don't have good voltage for the signal/brake circuit at the socket. The problem is defiately in the truck not the trailer. I tested all funtions on the trailer and they are fine.   :-\

Have you taken the truck connector apart and check the leads for coorosion?

If dem Yoopers use salt on the roads my best guess is coorosion in the connector.

What kind of a connector is it a round or a flat one.  If it's the round type have you taken it apart for a look inside.  Might be surprised what it looks like in there.  If it's the flat kind cut it off and put a new one on.

If you have a trailer tow package check under the hood at the power distribution box.  There are separate fuses for the trailer.

Did you try a different flasher unit?

After dropping the spare tire, and removing the reese hitch and rear bumper, I got to the infamous conversion module. Upon testing I found 4 of the 6 terminals showing resistance to one another. BINGO   8)   Replaced the module and all is well, that is of course after I bolt all the other parts back on.   :-\

Glad you found your problem Chet, but I wouldn't worry about bolting those other parts on.  You're supposed to have a few extra pieces  :D

Tom

Yeah!   leave all of that stuff off in case it ever fails again. :D

Even better, Tom!  My friends used to ask me why my washing machine didn't have a front to it  :D
