i Have a c6 treefarmer that I am trying to figure out how to get the can car/ gearmatic winch to work in. Used it for a year with no problems and the last two months have had nothing but. The adjusting rod that goes between the lever and the inside winch band keeps snapping in half. I have the bands adjusted with a hacksaw blade and are true all the way around. After the 4th time with new adjuster my patience is being tested. Am I putting to much pressure on he adjuster? I can still spin it by hand when it's in there. Ready to get rid of the old girl and go back to Deere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you are talking about the thing that looks like a brake shoe adjuster  if so dont tighten that tight just snug it so there is no play  that needs to move a little to activate the inside clutch band just make sure that little lever works free you can stick a bar in there to see if is free it doesn't move much

Yes that's what I'm talking about. Everything is free I just put 2000$ in new parts in the winch in the last two months. I'll try loosening that up a little and see how it works. Thanks for the response.

How thick is that adjusting rod? Does it have 3/4" adjusting nut to lock the rod from turning? Mine is 3/4"s.

Yes 3/4 nut I'll see if I can load picture of what it did and when it broke it overturned the outside ban so it broke the fitting going into the drum for the plunger line
