Deestone 18.4-26

Has anyone ever ran Deestone 18.4-26 on a skidder?:

The price is right, but they aren't considered a forestry tire by name. For what it's worth I've heard this brand of tires do ok in other applications.

Does the 12 ply on these vs. 10 ply on forestry specials have any merit? Should I just keep saving up for firestones or something similar? Thanks for any helpful input you have.

While Deestone is a pretty good tire, especially for the price I would think you want actual skidder tires. Skidder tires usually have additional protection in the sidewall area and a tougher rubber in the tread area.  As you undoubtedly know, skidder tires take a beating every day and ag tires really aren't designed for that sort of abuse.

We ran ag tires on the front of 440 skidders for a while, I put a set of Primex on the front in 06 ? And firestones on the back in 14 ? If your not in rock and watch your stumps you can get away with them on the front, not on the back. You can run a Firestone tire till it's about bald and cords hanging out. Re-sale is an issue if you ever plan to sell it down the road. Not sure where your located but I would hunt marketplace.
