Near 100 on the spring loaded thermometer out on the porch yesterday
The heat brought out the Deer Flies . Got viciously attacked by 1/2 doz at once
last evening while walking the dog.
A wide brimmed hat messes them up a little
but had to bee line it back to the house before I slapped myself silly fending them off  ffcheesy
A low temp of 74 last night.
The dreaded Deer Fly pic. Go ahead, click on it.

Those deer flies are suckers but they don't compare to the bigger ones that come out later in the summer(some out already) , horse/moose flies!
They are much larger and faster, I've tested it! 😆 went up country for a drive had maybe a dozen tailing me, I got to about 45km/hr before I lost them, so they can fly that fast! Green head horse flys

Last summer when I was cutting my beam pockets, I killed 6 or 7 horse flies one afternoon.

Gonna be 92° in Sacramento and 76° up here at the cabin. Chilly 50's right now.

Not really a fly you want to ignore if it gets you you'll know it IMO as bad as a wasp sting

Horse flies were wicked bad last summer, worst I've seen ever. I have not been out in the heat much yet, but I have a few deer flies around the yard. I usually only get hit by a couple at a time or just one will pester. Been no mosquitoes and only black flies in cooler overcast days. Been lots of fireflies at night all June, more so in this heat.

Yeah, drove by the cement contractor's office early this morning to pay my bill. His A/C went out last night at the office.  smiley_thumbsdown   $2955 was the bill, heck that is $45 cheaper than 5 years ago for the garage. It's a foot shorter in depth. It's a 5" deep slab. I ain't complaining. I was told cement went up a bunch since 5 years ago. Can't prove it by me because I have the invoices.  ffcheesy ffcheesy ffcheesy

Climate related. My newly insulated no AC R-19 20 x 30 garage/workshop with pine board walls and sheetrocked ceiling stays cooler than the 1st floor of the house with AC.
Yesterday was at least 95 out and shop only got to 72. Like walking into a big fridge. Happy with that.

We need some good rain. Wouldn't mind a couple rainy days

SwampDonkey

70° today, but was all day getting there. Mostly overcast. A few sprinkled happened for about a minute and it went away. Just happened to be the time I was heading home with some plywood and Melamine shelving boards  for my L bench. Also 2x4x8's for the construction of the bench and a couple firewood stud walls. I did not want to get the panels wet. Worked out.

The weather has been hot, windy and dry. Not bad working conditions, but that will change soon.

Miserable heat here for 4 days (90+), got hardly nothing done except resting my back, which was good. I kept the shop closed up and it stayed 'relatively' cool, but still uncomfortable to work in. Yesterday afternoon we finally had some good afternoon storms come through and cool it all down, maybe more this afternoon. We got 3/4" in a hour or two. But now it's stinking humid and everything is wet. Can't win and I gotta get some wood milled up ASAP.
I hope it doesn't go like this through July. Moderation is a good thing, so how about it? ffcheesy

It's been hot like mid 90's but the humidity is low .Because I live amidst big old 100 foot oaks the temperature  is not that bad .However out from under the shade of those big trees it can cook the sap out of you in about ten minutes.Takes a daily watering of my raised bed "truck patchs" that grow the very best tomatoes in North America .Nothing like them ,vine ripened and 25 feet from my back door.End of July I'll get them again .

SwampDonkey

Great big much needed rain front moving toward us. I had planted some extra cukes, cantaloupe and squash in the high heat period. Watered them in good, they are all up and thriving. Some rain and you better be prepared to run as the hordes move across the land. :D :D

Raspberries in 2 weeks in the garden. I been eating strawberries by the bowl fulls, a few shortcakes with Skyr yogurt and ice cream instead of whipped cream. Slides down some nice. Mmm mm m

I haven't been able to see the gauge here yet this morning, but [emphasis on] we've had some rain![emphasis off]. And I'm certainly glad of that.  ffsmiley Been pretty much 60° through the night. Looks like 80° Tuesday and Wednesday and then cool off again to 60's on Thursday with showers and cool Friday, then 70's for a week after that. My kind of summer.

I turned the outside light on over the door, clouds of no see-ums want in. That wet, neck high grass down by the big garden is breeding grounds. Lots of fireflies around, maybe they'll eat a few. I've got bats, but it would be more energy to catch and chew a midget than it's worth. :D
