Tim, you and I have a very different idea of what beer goggles are. In my world, beer googles make the girls look prettier, an impossible feat appear do-able, the laws of physics appear negotiable. our own voices to sound spectacular, as well as several other things. I can't imagine having a pair of 2X beer goggles, sounds dangerous.

   I call them beer goggles because everything at a distance is fuzzy and when you turn your head too fast, it makes you feel drunk.

I have safety glasses also with bifocal 2x readers in them, I wear them all the time, I have them stored everywhere, shop, tool bin, truck has 3-4 pairs, and I even have sunglass ones for when I'm running the sawmill.  Tim I like that name.

When sawing I always wear Amber Bifocal wraparound safety glasses.  I will not saw without them plus the exhalation valve mask, ear plugs, gloves, & safety toe boots.

It's me that I am protecting and I think that I am worth it.

Do you have a photo of a
exhalation valve mask.  Sometimes I wear a dust mask when mowing when it's dry.  But never sawn with a mask.  It sure would be a good idea sawing ERC. 
I do wear SWA approved safety glasses and leather gloves.  Steel toed tennis shoes too.  I was forever in boots, but they get my feet too hot for my atopic dermatitis .

Yes, search 3M 8511 N95 mask with exhalation valve.  You should be able to find a box of 10 for about $15.  Single mask are generally priced @ ~$8.00.

Thanks Lynn.  That link is a bargain.  Masks always fogged up my safety glasses.  I gotta try these for sure.

Hard to type with one hand.  My John Deere mower is missing its hood, I stopped for a second to pick up something and just rested my hand on the engine for a split second while cutting the grass and ouch! One of the bolts backed out a bit on top of the spinning cover and caught me good.  Had to get 6 stitches and a tetanus shot.  The worst part is the down time, I'm too busy to be resting up right now.

I assume/hope you are right-handed.  should be fine.  from the pic it appears you lost your L thumb.      could always be worse, but sorry all the same.

Thumb is intact.  Could have been much worse.    Wedding ring took a beating, was hard to get off at the hospital they were leaning towards cutting it.  Now I have to find a hood/engine cover for a John Deere D140 for a decent price.

Well, I stepped up to the plate today.  It was getting dark this evening and I was restacking full size 2x12x20s.  I dropped one end on the loader forks and it dropped down on the end of a sticker, which flipped up and wacked me below the lip.  I was bledding like a stuck pig.  Inside lip is swollen too, but no busted lip
