I was in for a late fast lunch. Had a lot of customers in the morning. Getting ready to go out to the mill when I saw a big truck come in the yard. I knew he was coming. As I was going out I saw a car leaving with lumber on top.

JD 440B skidder winch

How do you remove the winch fill port. Mine has a large threaded plug, it looks like it has two tabs on the plug to unthread it. Anybody got any tricks? Thanks in advance.

JD 440 skidder black liquid in exhaust

I have a friend who has a JD 440 skidder and the engine starts fast and runs smooth. After a few minutes of running a black liquid runs down the exhaust pipe and lands on block. The engine doesn't smoke.Any ideas?

Yesterday my day started off with two cars pulling up and three people introducing their self as OSHA inspectors. Two of them figured out that a small farm sawmill operation was not in their job but I had the pleasure of meeting a very professional young lady that dealt with noise. Harvesting machine

Hi All,
Is there a harvester, be it a whole machine or just the head configuration, that would make it possible to push the tree over first before cutting the log? Just looking to harvest and clear 500 acres of hardwood and need the stumps out as part of the logging gig.
