Classes/Workshops in Appalachia

I'm most generally wandering between southern Ohio, southern WV, and western VA. Is there any timber frame instruction available within reasonable reach? 

I'd like to learn basic joinery techniques, tool use/care, and perhaps some design. The more focus on hand tools the better. My next home will be built without electricity. 

What I don't want to learn is some highly individual philosophy. I've tried to learn from people who spend all the time explaining why their way is better than every other way, and that's not too helpful.
