What is the years of the saws please

The 268xp was made 1989 week 23, the 254 1990 week 42.

Does that 254 actually say xp on it?

About the MS250, all I can say is that it was made in the US, and it is much newer than the Huskys.

The 254 is just the number on the black plate, the cover says 254xp on it.    My other one says 254 G on the plate, 254xp on the rewind cover.


Why do you as , if I may ask?

I needed the dates so I can order some parts.

I'm trying to pinpoint more exactly when the designations changed from 254/254G (G is for Generator, meaning it has heated handles) to 254xp/xpg.

If yours originally said xp on it, it happened a little earlier than I previously thought (just a few months though).

Now, the designation change didn't mean there was much of a change to the saws (if any at all), the more important changes happened a couple of years later, when the "Air Injection" was added + more changes.

That will of course have to happen at some point, when a change is made.
