This information is complementary to the Safety Information issued April 15, 2013
On Friday, April 12, Petzl was informed of an accidental fall in a training center in Germany. The injured person was
moving at height using a Petzl ZIGZAG mechanical Prusik. The initial observations have shown that the fall was due to a
failure of the rope end attachment hole. Our investigation and further testing lead us to conclude that this failure was the
result of a particular configuration of a cantilevered and off axis loaded upper carabiner.

As of Wednesday, April 24, 2013, Petzl has issued a RECALL ALERT for all ZIGZAG mechanical Prusiks (SKU D22).



Call Petzl America at (801) 926-1500 and ask for the customer service.  Petzl's goal is to contact every ZIGZAG owner and inform them of this Recall Alert and recover all ZIGZAGs currently in the field.



We appreciate your help in this effort. Petzl is currently directing those who have purchased ZIGZAGs to return them directly to Petzl America. To maximize end-user response, Petzl America is offering the following options: Credit towards Petzl product (total equal to the retail price of the ZIGZAG + 30%, including shipping) A complete refund at the purchase price (including taxes and shipping) upon receipt of your ZIGZAG Petzl America will facilitate every step of the ZIGZAG recall, including providing pre-paid UPS Call Tags.



A new version of the ZIGZAG is currently being developed and will be available in January, 2014. Petzl appreciates your help and patience, and we sincerely apologize for the difficult situation this creates for you. Safety is our first priority and we are focused on immediately recovering all ZIGZAGs currently in inventory or in the field.
