Lee, That is Beech,one of my favorites as the smooth bark does not bring debris into the house.My Percherons will debark a Beech tree in no time.

The only two kinds of beeches anywhere close to where I live aren't spelled like that.  :D Thanks for the ID.

Nice mix. Beech and hard maple are two of my favorite woods to burn.

2 Days all home, now to cut, split, and stack.

 That s the best way to handle firewood. I always cut it to 10 to 12 foot lengths and stack it in the woods until I get what I figure I need for the year. Then I load it into my dump trailer and haul to the house where it is stacked with my skid steer. I cut and split it and out into the wood shed. This was my last year for cutting it down in the woods. I am having 30 acres logged off and part of the deal was they are cutting and hauling to me 40 pulp cords of wood. This is all ash, maple and cherry and what ever ironwood they find. I sure would like to get my hands on the JD processor they are using to cut the woods down. That thing is awesome

He is covered up with the glaciers.  Maybe he will thaw by late Spring.

I'm in the midst of my firewood this year too.  Got about 10 cords cut, but still have to buck and split....   

I too love burning beech.  Splits nice, stacks nice, and burns hot!

I burned alot of beech.
I saw the title and Brenda stopped to get some bread and something else. We have a bad storm coming and people was lined up out by the road.  :  That many snow storms in the state of Maine that I have not been able to get out.
