NAPA sells a magnetic 110v heater. Sometimes when it's real cold I stick to the bottom of the oil pan or transmission just to warm the oil up a bit in addition to the block heater. Putting a blanket over the hood helps the heater do it's job too. The magnetic heater is handy cause I can put it on other things like my woodsplitter to get it a little warmer before starting. I think it was around $35.

These heaters work pretty well, I'd stay away from the dipstick oil heaters but the ones that magnetically attach to your oil pan are decent.

Just remember that you gotta turn the engine over a little to get the warm oil runnin where its supposed to go.

My neighbor has 2 of these heaters. 1 on the oil pan and 1 on the fuel tank to preheat the fuel.
remember man that thy are dust.

Hi guys;
     I only have one piece of equipment with pre heaters and my equipment is usually a long way from any power sorce except a generator.  I use a good brand of  either with a lubricant in it. J.D. or Prestone.  In a pinch I just hold a gas rag up to the breather.  This works down to 15 degrees below that I stay in the house.

We have block heaters in about all our equipment.  On most you take out a freeze plug.  The heater has a rubber plug with a bolt that you tighten to expand the rubber.  I would think you could get close enough in size to make it work, metric or not.

Marcel, that's a great idea!  I love a good ribeye with diesel drippings. 8) 8)

Modat, if it gets to where I need to heat the fuel, I'll be long gone and won't need the tractor! :D :D

The Ebay thing don't sound all that bad, but I'd hafta get enough to buy another 60hp tractor-loader.  I ain't too sure the "rare, out of print" thing would go over too well in this case.  Remember, IMT stands for "Ignorant Man's Tractor."   Nobody but an ignorant man would buy one! :-\

And here I went and got an IMT.  I thought it stood for entelijunt man's tractor! I'm beginning to think it stands for "infinite maintainence troubles". :(

I dont know if this is a good tip or not but it was 5 below zero last night and I always park the tractor facing east so the power of the sun can bake the side of the block which is black in color.The solar power on the dark block melted all the icicles and about noon today I give the small squirt of ether and it fired right up no problem. Solar engine block heater ! I bet a big piece of clear plexiglass leaning against the side of the block would have really magnified the heat into the dark colored block.  Solar power!  I give all patent rights and authority to my friend DanG ! "The DanG Heater"  8) 8) 8)  . It really does work and I use 15-40 oil
