Came today but I fully intend on bidding on the next FF Axe.
When the first Axe was beyond my reach, I ordered a Carpenter's Axe for myself to use. And I fully intend to use it.
It is both rustic and beautiful. Truly a craftsman's joy.

The suspense before opening the package.
A sight to behold.

The polished edge reflects my "Tom" shirt.
Yes, it is shaving sharp.
This is truly a finely crafted cutting tool.
I would have to still have a cheap axe to chop nails out of some of our logs.
That axe even looks sharp, and even has a sharp edge.
No tramp chopping with this baby. This will be my kindling chopping axe.
My wife accused me of starting my mid-life crisis a few weeks ago when I bought my new grill. I told her a few days ago that I'm saving up to buy a half a pallet of Norm's lump, and she rolled her eyes at me. ::)
How will I ever convince her that I truly NEED a new axe? She will somehow interpret my absolute need as a foolish mans want. See the trouble you guys are causing for me?
That thing looks way to cool to ever use. You should send it up here and I'll proudly display it for you 8)
I'll bring it with me. :D
Beautiful axe you have there Lynn!
Lynn, is the edge beveled on both sides?
Lynn, I've been trying to bid on it, but my bid want go through. say_what

Yes, it is beveled evenly on each side. I remember that my Granddad had what he called a "hand axe" that was like my broad axe and was beveled on only one side and completely flat on the other.
A look at John Neeman's site will show some of the different axes that are available.

David, if you try to bid before the bidding opens, it will make your face go screwy. It's possible that the effects will be irreversible.

Back early in my beginning of working as a helper, though I was too green to utilize it myself, I have seen them used for cutting the 'plate' on rafters' birdmouths. I have one that had been broken (one of my helpers while I was away from the job 20). I welded it back as best I could...but, it just ain't quite the same. Yours is a nice piece, Lynn. Congratulations. ;D
Very nice axe MM, a good hand me down, much nicer than a mass produced factory job.
Nice axe ! Axes hold a special attraction, it is your basic tool. I have been collecting broad axes as I come across them, (3) so far. Having hued a few timbers just to see how it works, I have great admiration for the old timers who used these to make lumber with. To think of all the homes and railroad ties that were hewn with this tool boggles my mind.
Magic, I've always said you have a nice axe! :D
:) Thanks. I have been admiring it this morning.....my Axe that is.
Since the FF Auction Axe was shipped at about the same time, I'm looking for an announcement soon. 8)

Doc's been in the heat to long......... :D
Looks like the surgeon has axe envy. ;D ;D
Is that handle made from sweetgum? ;D
Couldn't be. It is too straight :D.
Nice! Custom handle and all. 8)
The John Neeman site says Elm, so I will take their word for it.
I added a leather thong (loop) last night.
Certainly has an "elm" look to it. ;)
How about (the "B" is silent) asswood! :D :D I mean, really Magic...you put a thong on your axe! And sent us a pic! :D
Just feel lucky the one he posted was the one on his axe and not the one on his....nope not going to say it. :D

Would that be considered a PPD? ;D ;D
Nope, I'm not going to post that one. :o My Axe is safe. :)
I don't know, it's starting to look like you guys need to get your "axe" togeather. :D

Since we got our email notices about shipping the same day and mine came Friday, yours should be very close.
I should be sawing the rest of the week and making $$$, so you guys had better have deep pockets.

The BAD thing about that Magic is I sawed the rest of the week.....last week. So I already have deep pockets. :D
My pockets are deep, but there is only sawdust in them :-\.

I'm starting to get worried about the Forum's Auction Axe. It was shipped out 13 days ago and still has not arrived. :-\
The Forum auction Axe arrived this morning!!
:) I was beginning to wonder myself. Your mail really needs to be delivered. ;D
That is a beautiful axe
That axe is mighty fine. Happy Birthday MM.
Looks like that axe made a nice birthday gift to yourself Magicman. ;D 8)
Happy birthday Magic, and yes I too have axe envy.
I usually put nylon rope loops on hand tools. Good for hanging on the tractor, etc.. Last a lot longer time too.
"Leather thong" brings a completely different vision to my mind. 8) 8)
You know , a sweaty, leather thong can be very risky to a fella...........

I'll betcha this one never hangs on the tractor. ;D I am anxious to split some kindling with it though.
Don't tell anyone, but I have ordered a John Neeman knife. smiley_lipsrsealed
Magic-
I hope you and your axe have a great day today! Happy B-Day!
You mean to tell me I missed Magic's birthday? Must have been from spending the weekend in the woods. Hope you had a good one Lynn.
Thanks Doc & Radar67. Yup, I celebrated with my very own B-Day present, from myself to myself. ;D
Was it a axe or truck? bg
I'm bringing BOTH of them to the Pig Roast, so you can decide. :D
My John Neeman knife came in today....just in time to travel to the Pig Roast.

My Axe now has a companion. :)

GregE, owner of Sage Creek Forums, sharing my joy as I admire these beauties. :)
Better make sure you have them insured. bg
On another thread the subject of John and Jacob's tools came up, so I decided to give an update here.
That John Neeman knife is the most amazing thing that I have ever....ever had. The sharpness is scary even after tackling a "Pig Roast" pig, and dressing an elk and two deer.

The first cut with the John Neeman knife.

I just used a hard Arkansas stone for a touch up. It is amazing. It is actually sharper now than when I got it. :o
I will confess that I am yet to cut anything with the Axe. :)
Someday I'm going to get me one of those. :) I wonder if they have slowed down and caught up yet?
John's site shows that they are still backed up with orders.
John's latest video #3 has many of the steps that he took building my knife. :) Those guys are amazing.
I saw your knife and axe at the roast. Although I had not used them they sure looked like quality tools to me. Nice to know there are still companies that make quality and don't rush for quantity. Like most things hand made, hard to beat'm. :)
