We send care packages to guys in the Sand and one of the things I include is a utility knife for Special Boys. I don,t run a 2 inch blade and one of the critiques is to increase the tang. Too do this I need 2 inch blade material. If some one has some time to chop some wider blades up to fit in a flat rate box I will reimburse the shipping. I am in Middle TN

I sure would like to see pictures of what you are including in your care package.  Are you making a paring knife from bandsaw bands?  What else do you include in your package.

Mom just sent two packages.
First of all before I tell you what was in it it was going to a individual attached to Special Forces but not SF. When he got his first package which was home made Scottish Scones that My wife is know for the package was taken away from him. The special boys opened the package and made a pot of coffee and they proceeded to eat all of the scones in one sitting. understand that boys in the real mix no one was left out no one was left behind.
We still told him that he went to school and the boys stole his lunch money. Mom also told him that one piece of fudge. She has but the one piece weights 18 lbs.
She packs everything in popcorn which is an old Vietnam trick to absorb moisture. We also include wet wipes for ones that are in the outer FOBs. Instant koolaid individual packs are great also.

I think I have a couple of blades that I tried on my mill but didn't fit that well so are in the back of the shed, might be a little rusty. What length do you need them chopped into?
Two LT70s, Nyle L200 kiln, 4 head Pinheiro planer, 30" double surface Cantek planer, Lucas dedicated slabber, Slabmizer, and enough rolling stock and chainsaws to keep it all running.

Sparks, it sounds like he would be just as happy with some scraps.  I'll bet the blade shop has a lot of 6" or foot long pieces lying around.

Sparks has taken care of me and many thanks.

Perhaps this is a little late but as a blacksmith I have forged welded saw scraps together to make blade stock, putting a mild steel sheet in the middle.
