Does Stihl still make a carbureted version of their MS362?

On their web site they list the DSRP of the MS362C-M ($869.99-$899.99) but says call for price on the regular MS362.

It's unclear to me if they are still making it.  I bought an older 362 earlier this year and was told it is still in production.  I can't find it on the Stihl site or my local dealer site.  The Stihl corporate site lists a 361 oddly, but not a plain 362.  The site you are looking at is likely a dealer site and not corporate.  My dealer lists the MS362 RCM.  That is an mtronic with wrap around handle.  I bought a brand new MS261 non mtronic a few months ago, so either they are still making that or it was old stock.

My dealer has 'contact us for price' listed on the website also. My interpretation is it's a special order item. Prices for other models are listed, but they aren't accurate. He sells below msrp. He opens the catalog, checks the price, then does a mental calculation of what he'll sell it for. I do know that his clients prefer standard saws over computer saws. He's Amish in Amish country.

I got that info at www.stihlusa.com.

A few guys on other sites said, all Stihl Pro saws come in carb or M-Tronic except the new 400 and 500 saws.  Hopefully that's the case.

Thanks, NYH1.

Stopped by a dealer last week.  They had both the MS362 (carb) and MS362C-M (M-Tronics) w/20" b&c listed for $820 plus tax.

I am not a Stihl expert by any means but it is my understanding that the MS362 C-M and the non C-M are both carbureted saws.  The C-M is computer adjusted where the non C-M is manually adjusted.

But why not get the M-tronic one? Fair enough, the first generation of M-tronic wasnt really all that, but after 2017 they are on the 3rd gen of Mtronic. I have never had to do a reset or factory reset of any of mine Mtronic saws, no matter where I have moved in country here. It adjusts itself to optimise performance wether I run a 13" B/C or a 20" B/C.

Migth be me, but I dont see why not to get the newest and most hightech stuff.

You will be happy with the 400, I have yet to hear of anybody in my area not very happy with that saw

I have seen Non-Mtronic versions of both 261 and 362 listed in sites before and noted they mentioned in the Features or Specs that the 'Non' versions were 'Made in the USA' verses every other CM version I've ever seen having a 'Made in Germany' sticker on it..
Is this truly the case?
Nothing against made in the US verses especially China or some other Asian venue - but given the choice between US and German made - I do know I would opt for the German version - whether or not it was computer controlled or otherwise.
Again - not trying to rile up any US guys here - but that would seem to me to denote they (Stihl) somewhat considers the standard carb'd versions to be a lower line product in my eyes!

I had a non computer 362 for a little while before it got stolen, and it was US made. Saw ran great, but I agree, I'd rather have German made, which both my Mtronic saws are.

After doing a lot of reading I changed my mind and wanted a M-Tronic version instead.  I actually went to the dealer to get a MS362C (M-Tronix), he only had the MS362 without M-Tronic.  So, I bought the MS400C.

I believe all Stihl saws from the MS362 and bigger are all made in Germany.  I wanted a German made model as well.

I think that's the better purchase anyway. Not sure where the 362 fits at this point. The 400 is only slightly heavier with a nice power bump.

Yeah, I can't really tell the difference in weight between the 362 and 400.  Plus, it was only $100 more.  I could definitely tell the Husky 555/562XP weigh more than the 362/400.

I think bit would depend on the country you are in. We get the non Mtronic 462, some do have similar 362s,
Even the 661s are non Mtronic

 Not to argue but....

My MS362 non C-M wore this sticker when it was new.

Every MS362 I've seen locally (Central New Yorkistan), M-Tronic and non-M-Tronic, were all made in Germany.

They may have switched up the manufacturing locations. My 362 was pretty old, but I can't remember the build year. Maybe now, it's all the pro saws are German, the farm saws US, and the homeowner saws China or wherever.

Magicman

I was in my Stihl store this morning.  The Pro saws were all Made in Germany.  All of the others were made in the USA.  There was nothing that said anything about China.

Does Stihl build saws in China, or just make parts there?
