Heron on a walnut cookie

Lately we have had herons in our pond eating the thousands of frogs that recently morphed from pollywogs. My wife said she would like to find a heron statue for our yard, so I went into my shop and came out with this several hours later.


 
It is cut from steel and mounted on a walnut cookie


 
I used 12 different colors of spray paint and a couple of colors with a brush. They were all applied at 1 time and I hope they don't peel off.


 
My wife now has her heron and is happy. In the future I will add cattails made of walnut and steel.

Hudson HFE-21 on a custom trailer, Deere 4100, Kubota BX 2360, Echo CS590 & CS310, home built wood splitter, home built log arch, a logrite cant hook and a bread machine. And a Kubota Sidekick with a Defective Subaru motor.

Very nice build... You may be attracting more herons looking for some companionship.   ;)

Thanks everyone. It seems to be scaring the squirrels away from my strawberries as a bonus. Next year I think I will make some twice that size to place in my pond.

That will either scare the fish away, or attract more herons. Seems to me you'll have fewer fish either way. :D
