Title: Replacing the logosol moulder
Post by: Sawyerfortyish on April 12, 2008, 07:55:59 AM
Yep it's going out the door. We just bought a brand new weinig. It will be delivered the first of the week. This weekend we will be cleaning out the mill. The old madison moulder in the corner and the power jointer we straightened boards with along with the logosol are all being moved out. We have to put up a new air suction system and move out some skids of lumber to make room. Were hoping we have enough power from our genset to run it all it's only 75kw. We think it will do the job but if it don't we have a week before the trainer from weinig shows up to train us to get more power in. The next couple weeks are going to be interesting. I'm so busy at the mill sawing I can't shut it down so I will sawing at the same time.

People may not be buying or building new houses but they are still fixing them up. We have been so busy all winter with flooring I can't dry it fast enough with two 3500 bd ft kilns to keep up.  So a bigger kiln will probably be next.

Red tells me what a nice operation you have going. Don't get up your way too often but maybe I'll be able to make a visit one of these days. I'm due to retire from my day job in about 2 years and I had thought of making flooring as a way to move the oak I get. Already have a kiln but haven't set it up yet as I maybe moving in the near future. Had to pass recently on an XL 4" 4 head moulder they were asking $1400 with 6 set of heads but it didn't fit in with the possible move.
