I am still having trouble diagnosing problem with our kiln. I have a local ref serviceman looking into it. We don't see where on the cabinet/compressor that shows what type of refrigerant is used. Anybody know?

Yes, although Nyle has experimented with all sorts through the years, they are blends based on 134a, which doesn't need a license and you can get at any automotive store as it is used in cars.  So it can be recharged solely with that.

The charge should be weighed in, even though there might be a sight glass, it is used to detect moisture more than anything.  You can use pressures as a rough estimate off charge but weighing is the best.

What is wrong with your kiln?

Take steps to save steps.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

Kiln drying wood: When the cookies are burned, they're burned, and you can't fix them.

Sawing is fun for the first couple million boards.

On the back of the kiln unit in the chamber, where the drain comes out, there is a data plate that will tell you what was used but it was probably 60 oz. of R134A. We have been using that for some time.
