Occasionally I do take my mill on the interstate. As with any trailer, make sure the tires and bearings are in good shape, the lights and brakes work properly, and the break away brake accuator works. Make sure your vehicle can tow the weight of the mill. You may need to investigate the regulations for towing equipment including whether the sawmill requires registration. Many states allow equipment to be towed without registration but some don't.

In decent weather, mine may be on the highway 2 or 3 times per week. Just keep up on your maintenance and problems should be minimal. You will need to step up your maintenance schedule and keep an eye on the mill head alignment; potholes and gravel roads accelerate wear.

Not really planning on needing to do it much, mostly concerned with getting it home this weekend, about a 600 mile trek. As long as it looks anywhere near as good in person as it does in the pics, and we run through a log with good results, I'm sure I'll pull the trigger. He's in a fairly remote area and I won't be able to rent a trailer one way, so I would have to rent in Portland and pull the trailer 600 miles over there and hope the deal works out. Decisions, decisions.

I called Norwood and they said the trailer kit itself would be safe for the journey as long as it was maintained, but I'll need to call the 3 states I'm passing through to find out rules/regs.

Well I made it home tonight, with my first sawmill. Headed over to Missoula from Portland Friday after work. The gentleman selling it and his wife were very nice people, I had thrown the biggest alder I could handle in the back of pickup and we sawed through it so I could see the everything was in working order and get a little bit of a feel for the machine. I just pulled it back slow and easy with lots of stops to check on the trailer package, everything held up just fine, I didn't get pulled over so not sure if I needed any paperwork. I don't need any in Oregon so I should be fine now excited to get it going tomorrow and start getting an organized system in place. Thank you all for your input and advice, directly to this post or indirectly through all of the other posts of combed through over the past couple of months.

Finally got to run a log through today. Took advice from the forum and made some stickers from furring strips, used my router to make them H shaped. Also, as advised just started with a scrappy firewood log. I did not run my blade into anything but wood yet!

Just want to give you another thumbs up on your decision to go with
the Lunbermate 2000. My first sawmill was the Lumbermate Mark 4 that
I bought used and was very satisfied with it; sold it and bought a new
Lumbermate 2000. It was one of the best mills I have owned and only sold it
because I found a good deal on a Woodmizer LT30 with only 280 hours on it.
I kept the 2000 for a while after buying the LT30 because I didn't want to
get rid of it.
Norwood has a good forum for Norwood sawmillers you might like to join.

I don't have anything to compare it to, but it sure does seem solid. The couple that sold it were a little sad to see it go, it was almost like adopting a dog from them, they took photos of it pulling down the driveway.
