I have a TimberKing 2000 sawmill, I mainly saw logs for others but I am wondering how others go about buying logs.  I am looking for Hickory logs to make flooring for my house.  Would I just contact local timber buyers?

In the current market you may be better off buying lumber from a small commercial mill sawing ties but I understand if you want to do the whole operation. If its just a one time couple thousand feet I would still start at a local mill and see if they would sort out what you need. If they aren't interested they may point you to someone who may. Putting a location would be helpful. Someone reading here may give a direct source.

Hickory is no fun to deal with without a straight line riper and a dry kiln. And left on sticks to long and the powder post beetles think it is candy.
