I have the set. They work pretty good.
Keeping them sharp is a challenge until you get the knack for it.
Which sizes do you find you use most? I was actually considering getthing the set of mini cutters as well as the set of larger ones.
1 1/2 and 2" are the ones that I use the most.
I also have a 3" that works well for bed post size logs

I have the full set...
keep them sharp...
at some time you may want to drill a small hole in the body for an air release... some wood tent to seal themselves into the body of the cutter either forming a vacuum lock or an air pressure dam...
keep a spray bottle of water handy for lube on really dry woods...
replace the slotted adjustment screws w/ button head socket head screws... you'll thank yourself later...
ordered the full set and the mini set too. a little over $700 for both. Hope lindy enjoys them.
The dual bladed ones work better, look at Bailey's or other catalogs. The Lee Valley ones tend to "walk" a bit (if they are still single bladed).
I used to teach rustic building at Great Camp Sagamore every summer, so I have bought alot of the Lee Valley (they were the only available at the time).
Enjoy, Ironwood
LeeB if you are needing any of my peeled pine post let me know. i have a few culled peeled bundles. They have 2 1/2 inch post in them to 6 inch. some bundles are dryier than others. Ill sell em to ya cheap.
Thanks SL,but I got more than enough wood for my few little home projects. First will be a cedar railing around the new porch.
