Does anyone have any experience exporting timber?  There are a few Asian countries looking for specific species of our wood.  Sounds like it could be profitable, but I've only done production.

I cut a load of cedar this summer that went to China. It wasn't that great of money. Only $800

We sell mainly through a broker.  He comes and scales and makes sure the money is there before we ship.  He also arranges the shipping.  You must make sure you have the cash before you load and ship. 

When you ship, you'll have to load the logs into a container car.  We use a knuckleboom loader and have fork extensions to push the logs forward.  We like to do 8-10 loads at a time.

So far, we've done this for logs destined to China, Vietnam, and Germany.  Red oak to China, white oak to Vietnam, and tulip poplar to Germany.  The Chinese have their own buyer come in and scale the logs.  25" and up.
