Does anyone have any experience with the memorystick cards for digital cameras? I just bought a 2GB MemoryStick Duo with adapter at  Worst Buy, and was assured it would work with my camera, however the card won't function in the camera. I have a SONY DSC-P31. Any help would be appreciated.

Dave I have a Sony F707 that uses the Memory Stick. I don't have any experience with the "Duo" but my cards have a lock button on the back, and when it is engaged, the card will not read.

I don't have a Sony or use a Memory stick type camera, but most cameras operate the same general way. Make sure you format the memory stick in/for your camera. Also some cameras can't use memory over 1GB. Also as Radar67 said, look for a lock on the memory stick.

Take camera, instuctions for camera, just in case and memory stick back to the store. They are there to help you. They can't spend 2 hours with you,but 15 minutes I would think will get you up and running. We've had add on that was suppose to fit with various things we own that will fit too.Sometimes they don't and than they get one that does and sometimes we don't know how to make them fit or work.

I have a Sony DSC 150 camera and I have had some M. Stick problems....

When I first got the camera I wanted a bigger stick...like most guys..... :D :D :D  I went to the store, got a stick and installed it....I got the message on the camera that there was no memory space...Of course I called the store, read the manual and beat my head on the desk for a while. Finally went to the store and we had to try 4 sticks before we found one that worked....4 SONY sticks..... >:( >:( >:(

Wait till ya have ta repalce the battery..... :-\ :-\ :-\

I think I may have found the problem. My camera uses the original memory stick. The one I bought, and was told would work in my camera is a memory stick Duo, which is tiny in comparison, and uses an adapter to fit in the camera. However, this is considered a Memorystick Pro. It will fit, but apperently uses a different format. Sandisk, the manufacturer does not list a memorystick for my camera on their site. I do have a Sandisk stick of a smaller size, but it is not a "Pro". Thanks for the help, I'll have to return it, I hope they'll take it back.

Yeah, there have been upgrades in formats of memory over the years and older cameras can't read all the newer huge sticks.

I use a F717 and a P73 both seem to cope with the ProDuo in the adaper...but not all models will.

I returned the Memory Stick Pro for two memory sticks. After some investigation my two mega-pixel camera really doesn't need a 2GB card anyway. Apparently the MSPro uses a different format to accomodate ten mega-pixel cameras and the higher capacity.
