Title: 10hp deisel vs 15hp gas
Post by: Bruno of NH on April 15, 2019, 08:06:06 AM
I'm getting an edger
Would a 10hp deisel have enough power to one it ?
I have a 13hp Honda gas
Thanks

Do you have the torque /rpm info for both to compare?

Like Southside said you need to compare spec's. But my eg100 is a 13hp gas. I'm pleased with its performance.

Honda gas 13hp
3,600 rpm
19.5 ft.lbs. @ 2,500

Yarnmar clone 10hp
10hp @ 3,600 rpm
8.6 go @ 3,000 rpm
20 ft.lbs. @ 1,500
Your thoughts

I don't see a gain. What RPM does the edger want?

Then unless you own the diesel I would put the Honda on, actually even if I owned both I would put the Honda on, that's his standard engine anyway so it will be fine, down the road you can always upgrade.  I have a 25 HP on mine, but you don't need that much, I did that because my 35 has the same engine and I didn't have an engine sitting around.

Honda engines are bullet proof and start well in cold weather.
