Got any projects or new things we can do on Thurs or Friday ???

Quote from: Jeff on July 04, 2009, 03:28:02 PM
Yes, were saving a lot of the stuff that we usually do before had until then. We may have to build some tables or seating yet.  many of the existing tables have went to pot and chairs too.  I may bring back some cedar lumber and poles from the u.p. for us to invent some furniture if you are up for that. :)

Hauled it all home and with the help of a drawknife, here is our Furniture kit, less a trip to Tractor supply to buy a few pounds of carriage bolts, nuts and washers.  :)

I was thinking more like     two. :D    I have 25 2x6's  On a regular table there is 2 for each seat, 6 for the top, so a total of 10. If we use the poles for everything else, then 2 and a half. ;)

Its out here in a pile in the woods. :)  I sent you a message when you inquired what you need but I think you missed it. You need birch bark to dont you? How much?  I could have got plenty when I was up north. I MIGHT be going back up for a day before the roast and if I do, I can get what you need.

Jeff,

That cedar bark amount will be just great. I am going to try to use the fibers to make twine/fibers.

As to the birch bark, I don't know how much labor is involved in getting it. I don't need it right away, but I'd like to have some for kids to touch and feel, so I imagine it won't last forever. (Meaning that extra would be appreciated.)

Also, I am dying to try my hand at making something out of birch bark.

So, use your best judgement. I'll appreciate any that you can get me.

I am also working on trying to find spruce roots, which literature says the Native Americans used to construct the canoes. So, if you have any ideas about that...

Anything I can bring you from suburbia?

Joan sent me a note that she might not get here as early as she planned, so we took advantage of some breaks between storms today and started  to build some tables. Plans were created cut to cut.  :)  Tammy and I Stacy, Jeremy's girl friend Kimmy and Stacy's boy friend Dillon all took part in getting the first one done and the second one well on the way.  The second one is going 3 times as fast. :)
