We are planning the second "cabin fever chilly chili dinner" get-together. I believe we outgrew our house for this in the first year so we are going to get the community building here in Warsaw, MO. We are trying for March 11 this year. I have spoken with a few already and we discussed a different date but we are unable to get the building until march. So let's get this started 8)
I sure wish we could make it, I REALLY like chili. ;D
I like the people that attend. Just like the pig roast you will not be disappointed if you go.
Yukon add me Sawwood to your list. Had a great time last time, and was able to put faces to
names we see here on the forum.
Sawwood
wish i could come, but it is a LONG drive from the west coast.
We have the Warsaw mo. Community building rented for march 11 for the chili dinner. Do you guys think I need to start a new thread for a head count and info about it?
Count us in :)
Yes,on the new thread and title it,cabin fever chilly chili dinner get-together. I am kinda bored and just clicked onto this thread. Just being lazy this morning.

Nice of you to have the get together.

Looking forward to it!
Add 2 more. Let us know if you need anything.

I'm in.
I think the count is 16 -22 right now. Ff member gunhandle will be there. Possibly Truman the miller and his family.
Yukon count me as 1, let me know if you need any thing. Are you going to have the raffle again? If so I can bring a
raffle idem for it.
Sawwood
I wana come but it is a bit too far out time wise for me to say for sure. Sounds like a good time. Did I miss the time it will take place?

have people to bring one desert and one side dish.
Sawwood, we will do a raffle again. Anyone who would like can bring an item for it.
We get the building at 11 am through 7 pm. We will eat at 1.
This will be potluck so bring a food item of your choice. We are making a pot of chili and a desert. We will provide silverware, cups, bowls and such.
We are trying to schedule our winter vacation around it so we can attend,.
Will check my plans too, is a smoked butt roast acceptable?

how long do you think it will take you to get there BB ;) :D :D
Not to long ;D
I'm scheduled to be home then. Have to see how it goes though. Daughter is getting married on the 3rd in Austin. I'm sure Lindy will be wiped out from that. I have a ton of things needs doing but I might be able to pull a day off.
I used to stay at the little motel in Wheatland when we raced there, nice guy, and old carpenter and the rooms were clean, reasonable. I'm swamped in the shop but I will be going on a Southern drive when I clear the books, may be about that time. I'll keep it in mind.
PS: I absolutely love the area you live in. Almost went to work for Lucas a few years ago, we would have been neighbors.
It is less than a month away now. This is going to be a lot of fun. There are several hotels around Warsaw if anyone needs to stay over. The community building where we are having this overlooks Drake Harbor and lake of the Ozark. There is a nice park for kids to play and we have the whole gymnasium for them if the weather is nasty.
we plan on being there
Yukon
Good on you for creating a community atmosphere. I am not commiting to comeing at this time but am making a post to this thread so that it will come up when I hit the repys to your post tab when I come to this site in a hurry.
I would love to meet all that are coming now but am not sure what I will do yet.
Still it is a neat thing.
Cheers

Yukon, Would like to make the event. Might do just that. Will rsvp later if we can make it. I recently bought an CNC machine (haven't even got the software loaded yet) and looking forward to picking the minds of those that have such a critter. I know from your posts you have some experience with one. Will post before we come if we can make it.
I am planning on attending, don't know if Sheryl will be off work that day, so count on 1 or two more. I will certainly bring something edible for the table. Where do I find directions?

I'm happy to share the little I know if you make it to the CFCCD. There are many others with much more experience.
How 'bout you start a thread about your CNC so I don't accidently hijack this thread asking lots of details about models, software, and what you have planned. ;D
I purchased the Digital Wood Carver's "mini carver" unit that was on display at the wood working show in Collinsville a couple of weekends ago. I really don't even know enough to even ask intelligent questions yet. Looking forward to learning though.
Glad to hear we have a few more coming. This will be held at the Warsaw community building. The address is 818 West Harrison st. Warsaw, MO 65355.
I can add what little I know about our CNC but Bark beetle is the one who knows ours best. I look forward to sharing about it.
Sound like a good time, however just checked my phone and it is 1,105 miles from here.
Enjoy the company and the chili too everyone
It's close enough to the date of the gathering that I think I can commit (barring an unforeseen event) to attendance. Add just one to the list. I'm looking forward to meeting some of the folks that I communicate with on the forum. See you there. My wife says I'll be bringing some sort of strawberry salad.
p.s. I will also try to pop up a couple big bags of kettlecorn for the event.
Thanks for all of your effort in organizing the event.

Looking forward to it! ;D
That is funny! The first time I read that I thought it was the pink panther song.
Saturday I got a large heavy box in the mail. It didn't take long to figure out who it was from. A member with some amazing talent sent us a large amount of his work for door prizes. We also have another box of goodies from another member. Last year we had enough door prizes from everyone that everyone got a prize.
See you all soon!
just want to thank all the FF members that donated door prizes 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
I give up... tell me.
How did you schedule the one chilly day of the month for the chili dinner? :D
What is the weather forecast for friday and saturday there?
Yesterday was a record high at 77°F.
I saw the address of the community hall. I will be coming from the South. Is the location pretty easy to get to. I suppose I can ask directions once I get to Warsaw. I believe that I am the only person in the entire world that doesn't have a cell phone so no GPS or the like. Still planning on making it. Having a bout with gout in the elbow but just got home from Doctor and getting a couple of shots in the a-- , so hopefully will be good to go. Look forward to bending "Bark Beatle's" ear concerning the ins and outs of CNC application. See ya

The location appears mislabeled on Google Maps. You want to go to what it labels the either the "City Office" or if you zoom further the "Warsaw Parks and Rec" building. 417 Harrision. Between Benton and Van Buren streets. Right on the waterfront.

Going the other way looks to put you in a trailer park behind Casey's. ::)
I submitted an error report to G maps. Already got an email saying they've updated the change.
Glad I looked it up. Was pretty sure I knew where I was going without a map, but thought I would double check.
The old saying, "my car knows how to get there" implying you know how to get somewhere but can't give directions used to be kind of funny. Say it now and people just nod and and think, "ah GPS".
Thanks for the info. I don't remember Warsaw being a major metropolitan area so I'll find it alright I'm sure. Prediction I saw recently was 1-3 inches of snow. Perfect for a chili dinner.
If you find the square and yell, we'll probably hear you. :D
I will say I've been humbled by smaller towns thinking, "I don't need to look this up, how hard can it be to find _____."
Fun fact according to Wikipedia. Warsaw has recorded both the highest and lowest record temperatures in Missouri. 118°F in 1954 and -40°F in 1905. :o
Wow that is interesting. At least you didn't report that both temperatures were in the same week of the same year.(Missouri weather- you gotta love it). By the way I believe the -40 degrees Fahrenheit is also -40 degrees Celsius.
thanks for passing on the directions on. It is not hard to find. It is one street west of the square.
Another route is, If you come up 65 from the south, the first Warsaw exit is Main street. You can exit there, turn left, and follow it all the way until you reach the square. At the second stop sign, turn left and go one block. You will be at the front door of the community building. The weather is going to be perfect for chili. I can't believe it is going to snow. It has barely snowed a dusting the last 2 years. Go figure...
If anyone needs my phone number, send me a pm and I will get it to you.

I know! Warsaw weather is weird even by Missouri standards. We've had an unusually warm winter followed by ONE chilly weekend...for the chili dinner... Which leads me to the ONLY logical conclusion. I'm thinking there is a weather control machine around Wheatland somewhere. :D
Be careful traveling today! We will be there about 11 to open up. See you soon!
It's just about dinner time. Anyone else on the way?
Thanks Yukon we had a good time. Good food and lots of conversation. Here's a few pictures.

I forgot to tell about the distance award or take a picture of the prize. In the picture of the door prize table is metal spoon. This is the "Magic Spoon" . it came to live with us for the last year. It was brought to the very first chilly chili by magicman from Mississippi. It was awarded to Trapper for the largest distance traveled for a bowl of chili. Now it will live all the way up in Wisconsin. Will it show up again for a door prize?? :D :D
Thanks guys for all the pictures, I missed it again of coarse and I'm not near as far away as Wisconsin ::). Glad everyone had a great time, maybe next year I hope!
PatD and I really missed not being able to sign the Chilly Chili '17 cookie, but mostly missing the fellowship that is always enjoyed at a FF get-together. Trapper, you had better hold tight to that "traveling" spoon. ;D

Yukon,
Thanks again for being such a welcoming and generous host! It was great to put real names, faces, and personalities to forum names. The conversations and food were both great. My kids had a blast and are already asking when's the next one. Two of them were asleep before we even got home.
Had this conversation with my younger daughter:
"Did you have a good time?"
"No!"
"Why not?"
"You said it was time to leave, and I didn't want to." ;D :D
This kind of event is the exclamation mark on why the Forestry Forum is special!
