I would like to read up as much as possible about timber framing design. If any one knows of some good reading material to help me in deciding and drawing my plans please let me know.

Thanks,

Hello squrrelhunter
I just took delivery of my copies of "Timber frame joinery design and workbook", and "historic American carpentry" from the TFG, and they are superb, a goldmine of seriously useful and professional standard information. I can recomend them. Jack Sobon's books are very good, more of a scolarly sobre sort of flavour, Steve Chappells book timber framers workshop is also good, more of an earth mother hippie sort of flavour. Nevertheless, both have excellent photos drawings and writing that will get you inspired and so on.
Hope this is helpful, Cheers Jonathan ;)

Hey squirrel hunter,

Mark Olson has a pretty good list on his website http://www.murraytimber.com/murraybookstoredesign.htm

I have to agree that Sobon, Bensen and Chappell are all worth reading.
