For the next hour you "might" experience some slowness with the server as I work to ultimately speed it up.  Right now when someone searches the forum, it takes the resources of the forums database to create the results. To many searches can drag the forum's response time.

I am currently creating a search index that is separate from the database. Searches performed once the index is created will search the index, not the database, Those searches will have no effect on the forum resources as it does now.  I am currently about 6% into this. It should be completed within an hour.

The search indexing seems to be a success.  :)

Searching seems to be almost instantaneous, at least from here.  IT turns out that it took me a little over 11 hours instead of 1 so I was only a little off. :-\ :)

I wonder if the search function is what was causing some timeouts. Since you've redone it I get almost none of them. Of course this is cutting into coffee and bathroom breaks for me. ;D

Jeff

It could have been part of it.  Searching the forum took a lot of resources. I'm thinking I still have a database issue yet to clear up before some of those little time outs go completely away.

I'll be updating our search index tonight. Attempted searches may be slow or timeout until morning.

Jeff

I'll be updating the search index throughout the day to day, so searching the forum could prove to be problematic. It'll get good again when I am finished. :)

With the time outs and things going on the last few weeks I had been unable to successfully create an updated search index for the Forestry forum. Searches had been slow and adding to the problems on the forum.  It appears I might have a few things sorted out as last night I was finally able to work on the index again and complete it, and enable it.

Searches should be very fast now.

WHOA!! That's a HUGE difference! Great job!

I had been having trouble getting the search to even work, and had noticed if I was specific with naming just one forum, it would work, but now this is great!!
