Advice an a new Stihl MS 460

Its time for another saw so Im planning on buying a new MS 460 next week. I'd like to get a 28 inch bar on it to use for some of the larger tree removals and stumps I do and also to use with an Alaskan CSM. Ive never used a csm before but Ive done lots of reading on here about them and figure it would come in handy "occasionally" when a customer wants a large log cut up into firewood. This happens quite often so a csm could be used to at least get a few boards/slabs out of some of the valuable logs that get "wasted" as firewood. I know csm's are hard on saws so my question is....would I be crazy to use a brand new, $1200 (after taxes) saw with a csm ? I always keep my saws sharp and the filters clean...always !...I think that would be the best time to use it while its covered under warranty.

You'll need a bigger saw if you're gonna run a CSM, to be perfectly honest.

I've ripped logs with a 70cc saw and it's hard on the saw and very rough going.

 A 460 would do it at a slow pace, I'd save the saw and gas and wood  and get a small push along bandsaw. Steve

 i can ship you a brand new ms660 for the 1200 your going to spend on the 460. it would handle the csm a lot better

I would not put the 460 in a constant strain like that...I picked up an older saw...084 for 300 buck that gets to do most of the dirty work....I don't run a CSM  but I do have to split a log ever now and then to get it down to size...Tim

I milled a lot of the wood for a cabin with a stihl 090 on a chainsaw mill.  It's slow and you get covered in sawdust, its real loud right next to you, you use a lot of gas and bar oil and even with a cable winch drive pulling it, it was real work. If you do it I would use ear plugs and ear muffs over your ears.
