Feltze you forgot about cotton picker spindles. They are at the top of the list. I know that some of you that have hit insulators doubt me but just hit one and you will know. ;D

Levi,I can't give you an honest answer,I can't recall damaging a circular saw with hardware. My first mill was set up in a nice woodlot with pristine trees. Now anything questionable I do on my bandmill,so as to limit my losses.I'am like a mother hen with the headsaw and check well for hardware.Aussie Chris is the one to ask or Ron.      Customsawyer , I have hit cotton picker spindles and ceramic insulators , they are both pretty tough but in my opinion the  insulators win the contest

The way those nails are arranged in magicmans pic looks like a kid built a tree fort. Maybe they had T.V. in it. I haven't milled many logs yet but I have hit all kinds of thing with a chain saw, including an actual brick wall built into a tree to cover a cavity 10ft up. It was completely grown over.

My buddy that works as a lineman for the local power company is going to bring over a load of used cedar telephone poles.  There is an area that they are replacing all of the wood poles for metal.  I can only imagine how many nails and what not that I'm going to find in those.  I told him that I would cut them up for him, but it's at my time, and 20$ per blade.  He's cool with that.  I think that I'm going to order an extra box of blades before I even start that project.
I cut it twice and it's still too short

Makes a person hope whom ever drove in those nails hit there hand a few times holding the hammer..

Sawmill man I guess I have been lucky. I have only hit two insulators so I don't have much knowledge about them. On the other hand I have hit lots of cotton picker spindles.

Why all the cotton picker spindles?  Here they sometimes drive them in trees to climb up to deerstands.

I do not use a metal detector, especially 45' up a log, but if the customer wants to use it that is fine with me.
I have a metal detector but get so used to not using it, then I get mad when I hit something. ::)

The bigger the head on a detector the deeper it will detect.
