Hello
I have been looking for idea on how to use some nice balsam poplar on our property. With the paper market at a stand still here, it is hard to market. I have been reading a bit about using them for constructing a cabin and I think I am going to try it. From what I have read as long as I keep them off the ground and good over hangs, the poplar should work.
So what I am interested in now is finding our what is the best type of log construction for a newbie. Easiest corners is my primary concern. I like the tongue and grove, my house is a 200 year old tongue and grove type. But the corners look difficult. And the large gaps require a lot of chinking. I am only building a 20x20 cabin.
