Need some help I have a timberjack 230d and it has started to make a grinding noise when under a load. Seems like it is coming from the box that controls your foward and reverse any suggestions???

Have you checked the oil in it? If it was low or got thin from to much water it could do that. It also could be a bearing starting to go

Yes I changed all the fluids a few months ago when I bought it but I will check it again tomorrow for water. Thanks do you know if there is a problem can it be fixed through the top plate or does the whole box have to be removed from the machine?

If it's a bearing you will have to take it out but it might not hurt to drain the fluid and take the top cover off to see if you can see anything

Ok thanks it seems to slip when it does make that grinding noise But it doesn't do it constantly so I'll check it tomorrow

If it's slipping that sounds like the clutch to me
