Congratulations Triple Crown winner and future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera. 8) 8)

Go O's!!!!!!!!!
Uh-- what's an O? (in this case)
I am in favor of baseball, especially if wooden bats are used.
Roxbury MA (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Boston courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Boston Red Sox, whom the boy firmly believes is not capable of beating anyone.
Props to
Cabrera on the triple crown, well deserved.Quote from: Okrafarmer on October 04, 2012, 07:09:38 AM

Why'd we have to drag my Red Sox into this?? :D
"The O is for the Orioles"
What? They're still around? :o
I thought they went the way of the Brown Sox.
Jeff, I bet you were nervous when they gave up a home run on the first pitch. :D Still, it was an entertaining game and they got the win.
Go Tigers!!!!!!!
We have some how got out of 3 innings with the bases loaded without the yankees scoring.
Go Tigers!
(anyone playing the Yankees is a good team)
I wnet to the yoopeman bar and grill to get supper and watch the game, but left after the third to come back and listen to my biased radio announcers. We don't get tbs on our antennae outside.
Not really sure what just happened. 4-0 going into the bottom of the 9th, went to the bathroom and came back and its tied up...
Fried potatoes
Cardinals found a way to get 4 runs in the 9th too.
Saved their hide. This is turning out to be a close game tied 4-4 bottom of 10th, 1 out one on second.

I'm with Okra, you can count me in as a Tiger fan as long as they last.
Wow, that was a swing of emotions last night. Our late inning guys have been blowing games with annoying regularity down the stretch and the fans are a bit peeved about their continued use. There may have been a crack in Leeland's loyalty to those relievers last night when he pulled Valverde after he gave up the second home run in the ninth He's never pulled the closer before that I can recall and always lets them ride it out. Until last night. Maybe we still have a chance now.
Phil Coke!
Dats TWO!
Just need two more...
Enjoyin it!
I know I am, sorry about Jeter, but, oh well,
Yea, that was too bad. Hate to see someone get hurt, and especially that bad.
Jeter has torn up the O's for years, so I have a built up reason to want to see him fail. But I don't like seeing that. Too bad. He's a great HOF player that didn't deserve that. Still, they are the Yankees. So......GO TIGERS!
What happened to him?
Jeter also seems to be a class act.
Okra, he broke his ankle pretty badly from the looks of it.
Looking good... ;D
Edit: Just have to say Phil Coke is letting me down.
Now we just need one more.
Now just need 5 3 more outs. Go Tigers!!!!!! Don't let up now.
Grrrrreat!!
8) 8) 8) 8)
:)
WOW. :o They allowed I think TWO runs in four games. Ol' George would be livid. :D
Guess I'm gonna have to watch some baseball since the Tigers are in it ;D Haven't watched a game since they were last in the Series :) Whenever that was ;D
2006 against the cards.
Did they win ??? Maybe I didn't watch it ??? 1984 was the best. Trammel, Gibson, Parish, Whitaker, Morris.....
Greg
A relative on that team?
One T not two ;) ;D :)
How about a couple more words.
Go Tigers
(if not tonight, then tomorrow night)
I'd like to day several words now, but I'd have to kick myself off.

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day... :'(
At least we know what to do with Valverde the rest of the season.
Those were my thoughts too, Jeff.
That was ugly...
So far at least it's not as bad as last night..... :-X
Edit:
Wells there's always Saturday night at home for a 1st win.....
Someone say a prayer
Need more than a prayer... :'(
Done like dinner. They are in tough now.
sadsadsad
doctorb, I blame this all on your friend.
Jeff, sorry, I am pulling for the Tigers, but have to say, as a true Braves fan, I saw this coming with the Giants, Just hoping the L.A. could pull it off, Allot better match up with the LA team. it is what it is, This is what makes proffesional sports what it is, Just remember, it ain't over till it's over,
I'm actually enjoying the Giants. They have an entertaining bunch of guys.
Whoops! A Tiger homerun, a glimmer of life.
To be honest....I hate Baseball, I think it is boring.
HOWEVER, I love competition where a team is down and I LOVE to see an underdog come back to win.
I started watching the World Series tonight for this reason. I just saw some BIG guy slap a "touch down" over the wall for a "hole in one". :)
Go Tigers!
Jeff-
I think it's fair to blame it on Tom. This is America......and everything is always someone else's fault.
First good news of the series is we are going to extra innings.
Doesn't sound good for Infantes hand though.
Well there's always next season.... :'(
How could we stand a change when they have guys like this? :-\ :) ;)
http://www.wimp.com/destroythings/
Great ball control!
Killed that Pizza..... :D. This guy has good cords.
Has the World Series started yet? ???
Nope, its a little less that a year away yet to game one.

Oh, good, then I guess I don't have to worry about it for a while. ;D
Now, do you really think that was real??????? Hmmmmm!
I could have asked the exact same question and I would have been real. The "series" took place while I was preparing for and then enjoying my Colorado trip. After I read Okra's post I turned to PatD and read his question and Jeff's response. She then confirmed to me how the series went down.
They do still make chocolate and vanilla. :)
Seriously, the only reason I knew anything about the World Series was because of this thread. I don't follow sports any more. I could have vaguely told you that the World Series is generally in October, but I couldn't have told you who was in it apart from this thread, and I wasn't certain when the playoffs ended and the Series began. By the time it was over, I had figured it out, based on the comments here. ;)
Having said that, of all the team sports out there, baseball is probably the one I most prefer to watch, and I haven't sat down and watched a game in probably ten years. :)
Chocolate and Vanilla. There are those that do and those that don't.
Growing up, there were only 3 boys in my class and only 1 in the grade ahead of me, so we played marbles. We had no TV at home, so I never watched a game of any kind. When I did have an opportunity to travel to a "big" school to a football game, I was looking at the girls. If I watched the game I had no idea who had the ball anyway.
Now, I do watch the tail end of some games before bedtime, because PatD always watches them. Some baseball, but always football. Especially when the Saints or either of the Mannings are playing.
By the way, the Mannings have a hunting camp and own a considerable trac of land about 10 miles away.
We do see Brittany Spiers' Mom at our local Basketball games, and Brittany still visits a local hairdresser for her "do's" when she is home. (when she has hair) Brittany played basketball in HS, but I always thought that her sister was a better player.
Hanging out with Brittany, her Sister and her Mom? say_what You must be a Magicman. :D

I would like to say a couple of words, The ball game has been decided, all the kids are reminded, the fun will last for just a while, then all us big'ns will eat the candy, wishing we had no more sandy, the folks without power are under candle light, waiting for another sunlight. and I would like to say, I do like the imagination of changing avatars, as it lends to more discussion on whatever we are taking about ;D
