What's this flooring made from?  One pic has a little bit of a hint.

At first I thought Ash, but then I saw the rest of the photos and am thinking Maplle, but I don't see your 'hint', unless there is a taphole I am seeing.

Tom, I texted you last night with a clue to ID, but you can't answer if you figure it out.

Sapwood off of a black walnut?

KEC

I don't know what it is but wonder if it is a composite material (?).

firefighter ontheside

It is black walnut.  Thanks for playing.

I guess I never said it was wood, so that was a legitimate guess.  It is walnut as newwoodguy guessed.
The sticker stain in the sapwood seems to go all the way thru.

FWIW, I go it right... ;D

Do you know how to look (standing tree) at walnut bark details and determine if that tree has begun to make more heart and less sap? Foresters know this.

I do not know how to determine that, but I'd be interested to know.

I don't know. We don't have it up here, just butternut. Any of those I have cut, whether young or old, have had pretty narrow sapwood. Plus the fresh cambium stinks of green butternut husks.

I'm curious and would like to know what was used for stickers and if they were wet or dry when the stacking was done.

I tend to cut stickers out of everything.  I'm not sure what I had those stacked with, but most likely some white oak.  The stickers were probably fairly dry, maybe cut a few weeks before the walnut.  I"m sure there are better things to cut stickers from.  When I used dry pine stickers for walnut, the stain was pretty prominent in the sapwood as well.
