Had a repeat customer call for a quick job this afternoon.

5 8x8x9 cedar posts and whatever side lumber comes off.

4 4x12x9 white oak beams and whatever 1 1/2 x side lumber is necessary.

Turned out around 800 board feet in 3 hours.  Only had one tail gunner.  Might have done better if I didn't have to handle a bit of lumber.

You are so right.
I had just sat down from sawing a few logs for a customer when the phone rang with a repeat customer (wood turner) asking when I could saw two logs for him.  I said how about 20 minutes from now.  He said I better get going.
He left a while later a happy customer.

I noticed a call from a previous customer yesterday morning but I was too busy to answer.  I later returned his call and he said "you said to call in December".  I asked him "how about January".  He has Oak & Poplar so he will be OK and heck, January is not but a few weeks away.

I did a quick tally last evening and I am down to 68Mbf this year which is about half of last year, so my sawing reduction is kinda on track.  In previous years I never said "no" and miles did not matter.  I passed off a 90 mile job last week.  My plan is to reduce that by half during the coming year.

I am building a work bench along the wall of the new wood shop. I was going to go to the box store and buy some 2x4 but I just couldn't do it. I had some 2x6 left over so I trued them and cut them in half, 2.75x2 then I ran them thru the planer. They were the only dry lumber I had, did not want to use green lumber. Cold here, 5 last night but we had a clear sunny day. I have a lot of logs to saw but I am spending most of my time on the shop. I put some heat in the other day.

It was 5 this morning. Tomorrow I think I will stay by the heater I put in the new wood shop.

Hey Hack, a woodstove would heat that shop up nice. I like that old time wooden step ladder. I don't see many of them any more.

I got a chance to cut something besides pine today.

Figuring out how to saw this one. Old pecan finally fell.

I realize that your question was "tongue in cheek" and this log will not make lumber but it will make stuff.  From my view I would try to sawmill oval cookies from as many of the limb stubs as possible.  There being 4 stubs complicates matters and you may have to chainsaw a bit so that your EZ posts can pass.

This is an example where the cantilever sawmill design really shines.

the 4 stubs could make a massive outdoor table base and then mill the log into lumber or slabs for the top.

One of my favorite things about the sawmill is making something from nothing. Lots of possibilities in that ugly log.

Yesterday I dug out some 2X6 Ash for the work bench project. Of course they were at the bottom of the stack. Put them on the LT40 and edged them then through the planer. Made a nice bench top. My second day of retirement, I have to slow down!

Monday morning John and I took a pallet of 6/4 mostly quartersawn liveoak out of the kiln and we sawed some sweetgum slabs out of a log that we were waiting on to spalt.  It has been stacked off of the ground since May.

I also cut the center out of a cypress stump for a friend to hide a propane cylinder inside.

Had a little ice night before last 40 and rain the next couple of days. Not the usual snow. I did mill a pine log the other day for some 3/4X4 trim for the work shop.

Everyone have a Happy New Year.

Was that a Walther or an Oshkosh that flopped over dumping?

I was very excited when it snowed or iced last year not to have to go out and plow / treat roads!  I'm not retired, I just have a different job with only a couple bosses, vs a couple thousand townspeople ffcheesy

Looking at it I'd say it wasn't an Oshkosh, my guess is a Kay-Dub (Kenworth). But not a lot in that picture to identify it by. ffcheesy
Liked the video, reminds me of the adventures I had driving truck doing material hauling for highway construction projects. You ain't done until the road job supervisor signs your time card... :uhoh: ffcheesy

It was a Kenworth tandem. Just slowly flopped over in soft mud. The driver was standing up with is head out the drivers side window when it landed. We fixed the mirror and exhaust pipe and it was fine.
The town had a lot of Oshkosh that we kept going , some were over 50 years old when I retired them. Two of them ended up on a farm in N.H.
