I own a small farm and need a good chainsaw for routine cleaning up fallen trees, limbs, etc., and also cutting down the occasional tree.  I don't heat with wood, so it would be mainly used for clean up detail.  We have good Husqvarna dealer here and that's all I've been used to.  My dad has two 265xp that I have used a lot.  Not sure I need a professional model for the money.  Any good suggestions?  My dealer is pushing the 450, 455, and possibly the 545.

I'm sure any of those 3 will satisfy your needs, but of the 3 choices you listed, I would go with the 545. It's very similar to the 550xp professional saw, with a few less features. So you get the pro grade construction of a magnesium crankcase, without the 550xp pricetag. The autotune carburetor is a very nice feature IMO.
I'm sure it costs more than the 450 or 455, but I'd say worth it for sure.

I would say get the best (closest to a pro) model that you can or want to afford.  Pro saws are made to run and run hard, pro-sumer saws are made to work hard sometimes. Reading what others have posted in here you can't really beat an echo 590 tumberwolf for the money.

If the wood you cut is <20" in diameter the 50cc saw should take care of it. I have the Jonsered version of the 545 and like it a lot. If much of the wood you cut is >20" in diameter you might want to get a 60cc saw.

one of my friends has a 455 from tsc i may have run 2 tanks through it and it seems like a good stout saw for its size but i run sthil saws so... i will say its much nicer than my 441 mag or 064 for clearing brush and fence rows and leave it at that ;D :D :D :D

Those three choices sound good. My cousin across the street has a 450 and it's been bulletproof. Ask the dealer which one he'd rather run and maintain; he's your go-to guy so I'd take his recommendation. Visible fuel level feature is a handy feature for me.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  I'm leaning toward the 450 or 545, mainly due to the weight.  Seems what I've read that not much difference between the 455 and 450 except the weight and very little more power.

Well I decided on the 545.  I figured that model would give me the most for the money.  I also like the idea it's very close to the 550xp.

I didn't see this thread till just now and I was about to say that out of the 3 saws you listed, my choice would be the 545 hands down.

Good choice!

You're going to be well pleased with your new saw. I've had both a 455 and the Jonsered version of the 545, and the 545 is faster, lighter and just more enjoyable to run.

^^^ I'm not the least bit surprised by that assessment^^^ :)
