Happy Thanksgiving from the Eastern U.P.!  Scenes like this, that I was able to witness yesterday morning, help remind me to be truly thankful for so many things. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I did watching it unfold before me. :)

very majestic and beautiful Jeff.  we are headed to Pratt to family today.  If we carve a turkey, does it go here or in the "what you are cutting" thread?   :) :) :)

Happy Thanksgiving my friends.  We are spending today and the weekend in Branson in the camper.  We bought some barbecue from a local restaurant that we really like and will have that for dinner.  My parents and sister and her family will come down tomorrow and we will get together on Saturday.  Also we will have friends camping next to us by tonight.

Have a good time all. Beautiful day up here, and thankful for my little kingdom. ;)

I was thinking of ya's when I was out pole pruning in black bear country. Fir woods is dark under canopy at 7:30 am in Nov. ;D

For dinner here I did have chicken, squash, tater, cranberries and mustard bean pickles though. Ice cream on date squares afterwards. :)

I will be by myself today. Tammy is quite sick at home, and at Stacy's home 2 of them have covid. Stacy so far not positive, but sick. Tammy was coming up tomorrow, but feels it better to stay home. Im waiting to recruit help to blow out the cabin water lines. I cant leave them as it will be in the teens after today.

I suspect it will dip down that low here to, going to snow here for almost 3 days they are saying. ::) Not deep snow, I think up to 6". One just never knows this late in fall. New snow shoes just came through the door here an hr ago from the post man. :D

The phone wave is going around, the annual debates over times and temperatures for the first heat have been hammered out. The power company has the trans brake on the big generator and the ladies are getting ready to hammer down on about 10 million ovens. Happy Thanksgiving All!

Covid has us alone too.  :(
Stepson can finally work out to the garage, could not walk more than 20 feet for 2 weeks. 3 grandkids had it, still not feeling great, DIL went back to work. Other son has something, so far not covid.
Way things are going, I think it's a good idea to be alone.

No it's not burnt, it marinated in peach cider and apple juice over night. Family has already started rolling in.

Since we have our big celebration on Saturday, we still had a fine dinner with my daughter, brother and his wife at Crackerbarrel.  Went at 3, small wait, food was served quick and was very delicious. No dishes to wash.

Happy Turkey day all!  Very thankful for family and friends!  Truly blessed!

Had 11 of us here at our first Thanksgiving in our home in Virginia.  Too much food and dessert.  Recovery day today!

Hope those that are sick recover quickly!

Hope all your families are well or on the mend for the better soon.

My cousin has been very busy with Christmas trees and sending some of them to Barbados this fall. He told me if he had another 100 acres of trees he could sell them all this year. He got behind one trailer load and trying to catch up, it's been hard trying to keep ahead he said. Best situation to be in I told him. Keep the cash flowing boy. :D :D

There were about a half dozen semi's at our big tree producers yard a little bit ago when I went by. From Halloween to Thanksgiving there are usually around 15-20 loading. They are about done here. The crews will head to FL in the next week or two to work strawberries and will be back early spring with our first infusion of truckloads of fresh strawberries.

All local young labour here Don, it's a 7 month long operation until Christmas and snow season hits. I've seen at least 30 loads go down the road since Nov 1 and another 3 or 4 weeks to go. Sunday to Saturday, rain or shine, when tree cut'n is on. And Snokist is a huge suppler, probably 20 x the operation. My cousin has 200 acres.

He found a way to keep them all working 12 months by running farms down south. The strawberries are started here then set out down there. When they come back it will be tree planting then pumpkins, shear and clear, harvest jack-o-lanterns and then trees. I think in the county there's around 10,000 acres of Christmas trees and I think the adjoining counties in NC are bigger. Kind of mind boggling.

Yes it is mind blowing. And lots of people want them trees. :) Cousin also grows a lot of Fraser fir. Might be most of them now. Natural fir up here is balsam. I like the balsam, more smell. But gotta grow what sells. :) I knew a lady that was very allergic to balsam smell.
