firewood splitter

been making a firewood splitter, not one of them panzy split the block 6 times at snails pace.

this beast can push threw a block up to 600mm diamiter into 12 peices, have tested it on a 500mm ironbark block with 2 branch stubs didint even fintch pushed it strait threw.

at present i am running it off my bobcat or tractor but am looking for a deisel motor to mount on it (about 20hp). still gota put on a infeed conveyor and block lifter.

it can do about 6 ton/hour (a cord and a quater) with one person heaps more with someone loading block aswell





i had to do away with the loading conveyor as it just wasnt working well but the new shoot works fantastic

Nice work on the splitter. It looks good. One thing I would suggest is get a bigger/beefier axle. In the video you can see it bend quite a bit when the splitter is going down. All in all, nice job.

its not designed to be moved just got the axle to get itto the shed to fix it if something breaks.

the axle is bent badly when i put it on.

the 2 rams are from an old backhoe i had down the back.

Weisy,does it get cold enough in your neighborhood to burn wood.That splitter simply bruitalizes those chunks. I have found the work splitting, is picking up the pieces the splitter I built has an arm that will pick up anything I mess with as most of my firewood is butts and crotches. Frank C.
