Most people use cargo carriers to carry long loads on top of the car but they have to strap them down to keep them secure during transport. Looks like this one should ride just fine right where it is. ::)

Back where I grew up the neighbors son drove over a much, much smaller piece of wood with his ford puckup. A branch really. Went up through the floor boards, pierced his heart. Died within a few minutes. My oldest brother held him in his arms talking with him while he died.

a guy around me lost a toe last year when a limb came up through the floor of a backhoe. ive also seen cases of limbs come right through the firewall of rockcrawlers.
I am curious. If you have an object hanging that far out the back of the vehicle you have to put a red flag in it to draw attention to other drivers. Does that rule apply to the front as well? smiley_headscratch
