Wanted: Hand Tools
« on: January 24, 2021, 09:07:13 PM »
I'm looking for the following:
Hewing axe
Drawknife
Chisels suitable for joinery
Less urgent:
Froe (I can make this)
Adze
Spokeshave

I would like to buy these and possibly other woodworking tools from someone who has a working knowledge of them. I would like to look at and talk about them in person. I travel a lot, and would be glad to meet anyone in OH, KY, VA, WV who has any such tools available. Obviously it would be nice to buy several items from the same person.

Thanks a lot!
Will

Not for nothing but to hope to make your life easier. If you can make the froe you can probably make a drawknife too
I believe in the hereafter, because every time I take two steps into the tool crib to get something I wonder " what did I come in here after"

If nothing else I'm always a good last resort or the guy to hold up as a bad example

Have you Had  luck with your acquisitions? What about a broad axe? Is it a left, right hand or universal you're after? No bark spud? Log dogs? Secondary and maybe second thought but essential all the same.

I found a couple of broad axes. They were both left hand but I flipped the handle around to try one right handed. I've been practicing with both.

I've been skinning logs with an axe and using makeshift dogs.

Have picked up some drawknives too, but still would like chisels/slick and an adze to play with.

In fact you could do everything all the other tools combined are for with a couple of axes.
