I went up Friday to the show, quite an event.  Well worth the trip. I did this till my feet were flat 8) :D. Saw so many things I ain't never seen before, felt like Andy at his first football game.
Ran into this guy running with the big dogs

These are some arches on display. The front one with the ring really caught my eye, a fetching arch. It can be used on steep slopes to do low impact even from uphill (my land) with a backhaul line. Then remove the eye from the reciever and insert the hitch on the ground there and away you go. The website for these guys is www.futureforestry.com

This is the log loader championship, these boys could make that thing talk! Move the logs from the red squares on one board to the other and back again as fast and error free as possible.

I'll put up some more pics as I take breaks today. I'm sure Jeff got some nice ones too when he gets back.

Jeff

Yes, I got some too! I'll post when I clear the cobwebs and rest up some. Had a good time, but glad to be home. Here is the last pic that was in my camera that I took at day break this morning somewhere near Escanaba MI. Its not logging, congress, but it was a good way to start the last day of travel.

A tradition of the Lake States Logging Congress is the tug of war between Michigan and Wisconsin. This year I was one of the tuggers. I am proud to say that we soundly defeated the Wisconsin team, and pulled up the maple tree by the roots that they tried to tie their end to.  ;D

Jeff

I beleive Humphrey wa a bear we were watching in 1999. We only saw him through that year. We figured the dog hunters got him.

Why would anyone want to hunt dogs?
They aren't good eating!

Tom

There's rumors that some of the Korean resurants around here are serving them.  I don't think they have been hunting them though.  They just find them wandering the streets.  Do you reckon gettin' bare makes dog hunting more fun?

whitepe

Tom,

My kid's Korean and all he eats is rice, salad and egg rolls.
Must be genetic.  I don't know about gettin' bare making dog
hunting more fun.  Seems to me those dog hunters oughta
be reported to the ASPCA. I think Jeff's bruder-in-law is
some sort of animal control guy.  Maybe he oughta report
them since he's in yooper land right now.
I can't see where it's a real challenge to hunt dogs though.
Most of the dogs I have seen are laying on someone's
front porch or penned up in someone's back yard.
Heck, they don't even run off and try to make it a sporting
challenge.  I got to wondering though,  It would take a mighty
big gun to bring down that dog that Jeff's standing next to
in the picture.

Tom

Your right, some Big Dogs, , go down hard. !

Short story:

My kids would walk down to the river and fish and shrimp at night almost all night some weekends.  One day they came home and said, "Daddy, that little resturant on the other side of the bridge has a pen behind it full of dogs.......and they're different dogs every day".

There was one oriental resturant on the other side of town closed a few years ago because lthey were serving the ducks from the pond in the neighborhood park.    :-/
