Don't remember any fireplace tools (crs syndrome), but I've made carpenter's slicks (out of leaf springs), chisels (out of old crowbars), knives (out of old files and saw blades), etc.  No pictures on this computer.........

Not in a while and have no pics but have made a few pokers before.
Mostly knives from files, sawblades, coil springs, leaf springs, hay rake teeth, and boughten steel. Even made some damascus from pallet bands and you guess it, bandsaw blades. ;D

I've made pokers out of 1/2" rod easy enough and old fellaw I worked showed me how to make nice scapers out wore out files, they hold an edge and and you can get good leverage, also used them for peeling eastern white cedar.

I have a friend of mine who is a real artist with his forge,he made me a knife out of a chain saw chain. He left the end of the handle rusted chain then you can see where he forged part of the handle and then the blade has a damascus steel pattern.I think chain saw chain must be some of the toughest steel to work.Maybe i can bribe my wife to take a picture! ;D

Loggah chainsaw chain is very difficult to weld and get good welds, I read up on it a few years ago and you really need old chain that ain't chrome plated or grind the chrome off as it prevents the weld from sticking, that is unless someome has come up with a new way to do it.
When done well(no flaws or cold shuts) it is beautiful.

And please bribe your wife into taking some pictures ;D

i did make a fireplace set when I was in grade 8 metal shop complete with threaded metal turned handles and stand.

I have also made log dogs for a friend with forged ends, I don't have a forge so I used an acetylene torch.

Heres a couple pictures of the knife Steve made out of a chainsaw chain. I could probably shave with it if i felt like it!!!! ;D Don

Heat does wonders with metal, if one knows how,  that is an incredible work of art with a chain saw chain, never seen anything like it,  very Nice work!
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,
