Looking for an edger
« on: May 31, 2015, 10:34:23 AM »
I want one with 2 maybe 3 circle blades that will cut a 2inch board. Needs to have self feeder and be able to cut live edged boards without a flat edge. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Unless it is part of a saw mill that is being liquidated, used edgers are very hard to find and pricey.  Even the old. old models that are mostly complete bring mucho money.  You need to be very watchful and have the money ready when you do find one you can use.  Regards, Clark

There are some for sale on the used woodmizer webpage https://www.woodmizer.com/usedsawmills/ForSaleWoodmizer.aspx
Also you may find some on www.sawmillechxange.com
and  sawmilltrader.  Do a search on edgers on those sites and a lot will come up. Cooks edgers look great also. I just don't have the funds yet to buy such a great edger.

Ok let me be more plain. Does anyone have any experience with an edger that will self feed and cut live edged boards square? I am well aware of where to find new or used edgers, just need to know that what I'm buying will work as advertised. Thanks

I watched the Miner edge lumber for a mill that cut 20m ft a day for 20 years. You line it up, push it into the in-feed rollers, hold it until it passes the out-feed rollers and let it go. I think it will go down to 2". I never cut 2" on it. I has a 3rd saw that could be set to 2". I'm sure the Corley is much the same, my uncle's mill had a Corley, that seem to work much the same. But, I was not familiar with the day to day operation. A 2 saw edger can, can if positioned right, vastly increase production in a mill.
