Lots of Hemlock available in N.C. and I want to saw it and bring it South to Plant City Fl. I want to use it for a pole barn 8X8 posts. I have heard they can go directly in ground, but my building requirements call for rebar through them and concrete. Do they need to be wrapped, and if so with tar or felt paper before concrete ? We have termites in Fl, so that is my concern besides the ground rot.
May have to buy PT yellow wood. But that would sure kill the budget.

I would not use hemlock below grade. It  is a very durable wood but will not last long in direct ground ground contact.I have sawed raised garden beds for my wife and in less than 5 years they are compost.
Go pressure treated below grade or pour concrete piers above grade and set your hemlock posts on the piers with dedicated post anchors.Regional building techniques take precedent.Always follow good trade practices. You don't want to do it twice.

Hemlock is great for barns, but don't put it in the ground,

Perma columns  are a great way to set pole barn posts. You could use the Hemlock that way. Check them out. https://www.permacolumn.com
