i have a couple logs i want to saw for quartersawn boards for a boat project. I am looking for the best way to get as wide of quartersawn boards as i can with minimal waste.
some of the oak logs are large enough that i was planning on cutting them into quarters first then sawing but i am unsure how to hold them at the correct angle to get the widest boards.
also pine ones, they are 18'' diameter, is there a tutorial for getting the most bang for your buck?
If you will search for the Reverse Roll Quartersawing (RRQS) thread, it describes a technique to get the widest QS boards possible.
great thanks!
