All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
Second, it is violently opposed; and
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

-- Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)

 Memory

My forgetter's getting better,
But my rememberer is broke
To you that may seem funny
But, to me, that is no joke

For when I'm "here" I'm wondering
If I really should be "there"
And, when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!

Oft times I walk into a room,
Say "what am I here for?"
I wrack my brain, but all in vain!
A zero, is my score.

At times I put something away
Where it is safe, but, Gee!
The person it is safest from
Is, generally, me!

When shopping I may see someone,
Say! "Hi" and have a chat,
Then, when the person walks away
I ask myself, "Who was that?"

Yes, my forgetter's getting better
While my rememberer is broke,
And it's driving me plumb crazy
And that isn't any joke.

Most of my friend are about the same vintage as I  (63) and can relate well to this sort of thing.  Might as well laugh, there is nothing else left.  Like these two guys

Fred (75) went golfing and hit the ball straight down the fairway.

He got home and his wife asked how the golf went.

Well, I hit it straight down there fairway but my eyesight is so bad, I couldn't see where it went.

Take my brother Bill with you next time you go golfing was her reply

But Bill is 85 and doesn't play golf

No, but he's got great eyesight

Next day Fred and Bill are out on the golf course, Fred hit a beautitful shot way down the middle of the fairway and turns to Fred.  Fred, did you see where the ball went.  Wup sure did.  Where?

Dunnno, I forgot. smiley_crying smiley_crying

I are one of those vintage things (but 3 yrs more 'vintage' than you) too!

Your 'joke' was absolutely 'right on', again, if I remember correctly. That was today wasn't it?

I am just a "young" 55. Not near as old as you guys.
I will tell you what I did recently and it will make you "old" guys feel better.
I got a late invite to join a family get together in Wichita, Ks. over Memorial Day weekend. That is about 150 miles from me and I was in a hurry to get there before lunch. I through some things in a bag and away I went. I got to the first town and thought about stopping to fill my cup with iced tea but decided the C store was to busy and would take to long. Next town was another 45 miles. I was one thirsty traveler by the time I got there. That store was busy also and I had a time finding a place to park. I reached down on the hump to get my insulated cup to dash in and get a drink and when I picked it up, it sure was heavy. I had forgot I filled it up at home before I left.

:(

Go ahead, laugh.....my wife and kids did.
Said sumthin about a senior moment.
